Help JoRee Preserve The Crow Tribe's Culture Through Storytelling

All over the United States, American Indian communities are working to keep their traditional languages and cultures alive against many challenges. That's why 20-year-old JoRee LaFrance, a member of the Crow Tribe, dreams of creating her program, "Apsaalookè Voices and Stories."

"Apsaalookè Voices and Stories" will promote the preservation of her tribe's culture through traditional storytelling, creative writing, and graphic design. JoRee will organize a traditional storytelling series in collaboration with local schools and tribal elders. High school students will acquire skills needed to create a children's book, which will preserve stories.

"I want to use the storytelling series to orally preserve the traditional stories and create a space where tribal elders and youth can interact, students can ask questions, and elders can impart their traditional knowledge on our youngest generation."

As one of Running Strong's "Dreamstarters" – JoRee is in a group of ten remarkable young people with dreams of promoting arts and culture in their communities. Together, by supporting JoRee and "Apsaalookè Voices and Stories," we can help make sure her dreams come true and the culture of the Crow people is preserved.

Sign the pledge and support JoRee's dream of creating "Apsaalookè Voices and Stories" to preserve the Crow's cultural heritage.
