Virginia: Urge Strict Environmental Standards for Atlantic Coast Pipeline

The Atlantic Coast Pipeline will cut a wide path hundreds of miles long through the heart of Virginia's Chesapeake Bay watershed. Crossing more than 1,000 streams, the pipeline construction will destroy thousands of acres of forests and other sensitive areas in the Bay watershed—diminishing the ability of these lands to filter water and clean the air.

Virginia must use its full legal authorities to ensure Atlantic Coast Pipeline construction and operation are held to the strictest environmental standards. The current general nationwide permit will not provide adequate protection to our waterways.

Recently, the Water Control Board reopened the public comment period to take a closer look at the potential threats the pipeline poses to clean water. This step will be important in protecting Virginia's waterways. But the comment period closes on June 15!

CBF will submit technical comments to the Water Control Board demonstrating why Virginia should not rely on the general nationwide permit to protect Virginia's waters. Now is the time to stand up for Virginia's rivers and streams. Sign onto our letter below—before the June 15 deadline—in support of rigorous protections for the state's stream crossings and wetlands.
Stand up for Virginia's Rivers and Streams!

Advocates,

Virginia's State Water Control Board must use its full legal authorities to ensure Atlantic Coast Pipeline construction and operation are held to the strictest environmental standards. Add your name to stand with CBF in support of these protections for Virginia's stream crossings and wetlands. Our health, economy, and environment depend on it.

Thank you.
