End Racism on ACNL!

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a popular game released for the 3DS in late 2012, described as a game in which "the player character takes on the role of mayor in a town populated with anthropomorphic animals"— simple enough. Just recently (December of 2016), Nintendo released an update for the game entitled "Welcome Amiibo", which added the use of Amiibo figures to the game in exchange for unique collectibles, as well as a new area to explore called The Campground. Despite these massive changes and the fact that the game has sold over ten million copies internationally, making it the seventh-most popular 3DS game worldwide, there is a single problem that players are beginning to demand MUST be remedied: the player's lack of choice over their skin tone. Players are restricted to only being a single shade of white. It is only a matter of time before Nintendo faces severe backlash over this problem, considering the growing debate over racism and other prejudices all around the globe. What isn't debatable is this: if Nintendo can afford to include the ability to sit on rocks in their update, it can afford to properly represent its diverse group of players.
