I am a representative for Bayside Residents Against Animal Cruelty (BRAAC).
As you may be aware in July 2003 Humane Society International (HSI) exposed the horrific cruelties involved in the global cat and dog fur trade and revealed its grisly products are on sale in Australia.
Cat and dog fur was banned in Australia in 2004 and it is illegal to import it in to our country. Australia’s import ban follows countries like the United States, Italy, Denmark, France and Sweden that have already acted to ban cat and dog fur or have laws passing through their legislatures.
Most recently, West Hollywood, California is taking a stand for animal rights over fashion, the municipality of West Hollywood is poised to become the first U.S. city to ban the sale of all fur clothing within its boundaries.
Animal cruelty in regards to fur trade and selling of fur products in our local community is our main concern right now. We believe that animal well being is one of your top priorities, too.
As such, we kindly request that you help make Bayside community be the first local community in Australia to ban the selling of any fur products.
