Animal shelters tend to be filled with workers who truly love animals and want to care for them. That's why it's especially distressing that the head of an animal shelter and one of his workers in Ukraine poisoned two stray dogs. One died and the other is in critical condition.
Please join me in asking for animal cruelty charges to be brought against these men by signing the petition.
There is CCTV videe of the two men pretending to enjoy a cup of coffee and then tossing poisoned sausage to the dogs. The vet clinic where the dogs were rushed said that they see this kind of poisoning about once a week — could it be that this is not these men's first effort? Poisoning is a cruel and inhumane way to euthanize an animal and we can't stand for it.
The brown dog died despite the vet's efforts and the black dog was found foaming at the mouth and convulsing. He is still in critical condition.
Luckily, the mayor says the men will be fired from their positions at the shelter. However, that's not enough to keep them from poisoning more animals. They must be punished for this act of violence against innocent animals.
