This Sweet Pitbull Was Found Emaciated, Coated in Urine and Caked in Feces. Justice for Breeze!

When Breeze, an adorable pitbull, was brought to the local Humane Society after being found on the street, it was clear that she had been a victim of intentional abuse. She was starving, with no fat on her body and almost all of her bones visible. The vets also guessed that she had been contained somewhere, given that she was covered in urine and feces. Yet despite the visibly horrific abuse Breeze and her two young pups had suffered, their abuser was only found guilty of a misdemeanor. In fact, the abuser will be legally allowed to own animals again in just five years.

Sign now to demand that West Virginia lawmakers amend current law so that cases like this are considered a felony!

Thankfully, Breeze and her two pups that were back at the home of her abuser have ended up in new homes where they can be properly cared for and receive the love they deserve. But they shouldn't have had to endure the suffering that they experienced in the first place. No animal deserves to live in such despair and unhealthy conditions. One of the best ways to prevent this kind of treatment in the future is to make sure laws intended to protect pets are strict enough, and prevent abusers from getting their hands on more animals to harm.

West Virginia is rated smack in the middle when it comes to individual states' animal rights policies and handling of these types of cases. But West Virginia legislators can prove that animal welfare is a priority and set an example for the rest of the country by amending current laws to include forms of abuse that are still violent, but typically characterized as neglect, as felonies.

Sign the petition now to put pressure on West Virginia lawmakers to do the right thing, and protect innocent animals!
