Stand Up for Whales - Don't Rest Until There's Justice!

This past week, the International Whaling Commission (IWC) met in Madiera, Portugal to decide the fate of whales. And Japan's pursuit of commercial whaling is still as extreme as ever.

Every year, Japan brings pro-whaling political maneuvering to the IWC meeting and tries to get enough votes to reopen commercial whaling. Whale hunting for commercial purposes must be stopped, calm returned to the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary and the government of the United States must stand up with its citizens for the whales and the oceans that give them life.

Help whales in their time of need! Sign the petition telling the Obama Administration to lead the way in defending the whales.
Dear [Decision Maker],

I support the United States taking a strong stance to put an end to commercial whaling.

For more than three decades, the United States led international efforts to protect the world's whales from commercial whaling. This led to the commercial whaling moratorium of 1986, which was both a victory for whale conservation and a milestone for U.S. environmental diplomacy.

In addition to Japan's blatant disregard for the ban on commercial whaling, Iceland just resumed whaling a few days before the start of the IWC meetings.

This is a prime example of why the United States needs to stand strong at these meetings and represent the interests of our citizens who want whales to be saved, not killed.

Please stand up and lead the way in defending the whales so that whale hunting for commercial purposes under whatever guise is stopped, calm returns to the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary and the government of the United States can stand up with its citizens for the whales and the oceans that give them life.
