Tell EPA to Make the Fracking Industry Come Clean

Some recipes are worth sharing, especially when the natural gas industry's secret fracking chemical cocktails jeopardize the health of communities across the country.

The EPA has the chance to hold the oil and gas industry accountable by doing two big things — requiring companies to disclose the chemicals used in fracking and studying how these chemicals impact public health. Since the oil and gas industry is fighting any effort to regulate fracking, it's critical that the EPA hears loud and clear that we have a right to know what chemicals are pumped into fracked wells.

Sign the petition today. Tell the EPA that the natural gas industry must disclose all chemicals used in the fracking process and require toxicity tests on these chemicals. We have the right to know.
Dear Mark Seltzer,

I am writing with regard to the EPA's Hydraulic Fracturing Chemicals and Mixtures Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Docket ID EPA-HQ-OPPT-2011-1019.

Please require full public disclosure of all chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing, including any chemicals an oil and gas company might claim is a trade secret. Additionally, manufacturers and distributors of fracking chemicals should be required to conduct and report toxicity testing on all exploration and production chemicals to better understand the impacts to our public health.

Greater transparency is an essential step towards protecting our communities from the dangers of fracking.

Sincerely,
