Nearly 1.3 million people call a nursing home "home" and depend on them for essential housing and medical care. With the number of New Yorkers aged 65 and older growing significantly in the coming years, the demand for quality nursing home care is urgent.
Now that the budget is late, we urgently need the Governor to listen to New Yorkers and lead by working with the State Legislature to add in the necessary funding for our nursing homes. Additional investment in facilities, caregivers, and programs is urgently needed if we are to provide nursing home residents and caregivers the dignity they deserve.
