ALLOW ADOPTIONS at Augusta Animal Services, NOW

Most shelters in Georgia do NOT have a spay/neuter clinic and have agreements with Rescue Groups and Adopters that they will be responsible to have the animal fixed within a certain amount of time.  This is a law and a good one also.  All it means is more paperwork for employees at the shelter to be sure the adopter is actually living at their stated address, the phone number is correct, and then follow up to be sure the animal was fixed.  If not, legal proceedings occur, as they should.  This way the animal is actually able to LIVE instead of DIE which is what is the preference of Augusta Animal Services.  They prefer this method until they hire another vet on staff to do surgeries.   This could be as late as January of 2015!  Please allow adoptions now!!
