Pets shouldn't suffer from domestic violence. Lawmakers in the State of WA should follow the steips Maine is taking to put a stop to this abuse.

Judges should be allowed to include pet protection orders for spouses or partners leaving abusive relationships.

Law enforcement and Humane Society workers say it is not unusual for an abuser to take their rage out on a partner's pet.

Sometimes these abusers use treats or violence against pets as a way to keep their victims from leaving the marriage or relationship.

We want this law to help battered women and others who are not willing to abandon their animals to save themselves.

The abusers who would violte the protection orders will be fined and put in jail.
