Repealing the Health Care Bill is a BAD Priority

Don't even try to count the problems facing the United States today. The unemployment rate, environmental concerns, homelessness and hunger, the deficit -- the list goes on.

But somehow the Republicans in Congress think it's a good idea to focus first and foremost on repealing a bill that would provide health insurance to 32 million Americans. In what world does this make sense?

To add insult to injury, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has just announced that repealing the health care bill would increase the deficit by $230 billion by 2021. Keeping the health care bill, on the other hand, would reduce the deficit by $143 billion in the same amount of time.

Republicans: if you truly want to reduce the deficit, you'll let this bill go. Americans see through your political games. We want you to work on the issues affecting our country, so do your job.
Dear Member of Congress,

I am frustrated and disappointed at your determination to repeal the health care bill that would provide much-needed health care to millions of Americans.

You tout your commitment to reducing the deficit, and yet you would move forward on this repeal that would add $230 billion by 2021? And what about all of the other issues facing Americans? You should be focusing on those things as opposed to trying to undo something that was voted on fairly and has support from the majority of Americans. It is not reassuring to hear that my representatives in government are wasting this much time when the country is in such bad shape.

I see this move only as a jab at everyday Americans who are in desperate need of health care. Your political games are of no use to us. We want real action on issues that are affecting us, like unemployment, hunger and environmental health. Please refocus your energies accordingly.

Thank you for your time.
