Bring Awareness to Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is a complex illness, with symptoms that can be written off as normal female hormone changes. As a result, sometimes women ignore their symptoms, thinking they will go away, and by the time they realize they have ovarian cancer, it's too late.

This is a huge problem. Nearly 30,000 American women are expected to die this year from all gynecologic cancers!

In 2007, Congress approved Johanna's Law that awarded three year's worth of funding to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to increase awareness of the symptoms of gynecologic cancers. But the funding is about to run out.

Urge your Representative to become a co-sponsor for the reauthorization of Johanna's Law: The Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act.

Dear Representative,

As a constituent and someone who cares deeply about gynecologic caner, I urge you to become a co-sponsor of Johanna's Law: The Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act of 2009.

[Your comment will be inserted here].

With funding from previous years, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has begun an educational campaign to make women and their health care providers aware of the symptoms of gynecologic cancers.

However, if we are to effectively protect American women from the dangers of gynecologic cancers, more time and funding are needed!

Nearly 30,000 American women are expected to die this year from gynecologic cancers. But by supporting this piece of critical legislation that promotes awareness of the subtle symptoms of gynecologic cancers, we can begin to reduce these numbers.

Sincerely,
