Together this Earth Day, we chose to #UndoFood. Why?
- Agriculture accounts for 24% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.
- Many agricultural processes spray toxic chemicals onto our food and land — in 2007, 877 MILLION LBS were sprayed on our farms.
- Runoff from agricultural processes can pollute our water including 2.5 MILLION ACRES of lakes, reservoirs & ponds, and 100,000+ MILES of rivers and streams in the U.S.
We made great strides to act and #UndoFood this Earth Day, but combatting the environmental effects of agriculture requires a commitment ALL YEAR LONG.
Our friend Michael Pollan reminds us that we get three votes a day to help shape the food industry - with each vote pledge to ask:
- Where does my food come from?
- How is it made?
- What are the impacts of my food on the Earth?
