It's disgusting. I have received an email 馃摟 about the Yulin Dog 馃惗 Meat and Lychee Festival. The dogs may be beaten, blowtorches, sliced open and/or cooked alive for their meat. These are dogs 馃惗, like the ones you may have at home and love 馃挆 and care for. Because China 馃嚚馃嚦, unlike South Korea 馃嚢馃嚪, have no dog meat farms, many, if not all, of these dogs 馃惗 could be abducted companion animals, taken off of the streets to be slaughtered barbarically.
Some Chinese may claim that Yulin is a "tradition", but, if I'm right, it actually only dates back a few years. Also, nothing, not even tradition, culture, religion or personal choice can justify committing or supporting deliberate, unnecessary violence towards sentient beings.
Here are some points to consider about banning the unnecessary slaughter of dogs for their meat in Yulin and the rest of China 馃嚚馃嚦 (and all other places):
* The disgusting unnecessary violence towards dogs would be banned.
* Dog lovers in China 馃嚚馃嚦 would no longer have as much reason to fear, worry or be anxious that their dogs 馃惗 might be abducted and slaughtered brutally for their meat.
* Tourism to China 馃嚚馃嚦 may be increased.
* It could serve as inspiration for other countries to act against unnecessary violence to animals (if China 馃嚚馃嚦, the country with the worst animal cruelty in my mind, can do it, why can't other countries act against unnecessary violence to animals?)
* Whole foods, protein-rich, vegan diets (with some treats!) may be healthier than meat-heavy diets for some...
* Vegan diets are likely better for the environment. As China 馃嚚馃嚦 has such a pollution problem, it would be great if they could do something good for the environment and promote healthy vegan food, drink and lifestyles.
* It would be less distressing for tourists and Chinese people alike.
Also, the Festival could remain without the dog meat. Why not turn the whole festival vegan by just having it as the Yulin Lychee Festival, the Yulin Lychee, Vegetable and Noodle Festival or the Yulin Lychee, Stir-Fry and Tofu Festival or something?
You could also promote and implement programmes to reunite the dogs 馃悤 with their people where doable and re-home the ones that can't be reunited with their people to the best homes possible.
The Yulin Dog Meat and Lychee Festival is due to start in just days. !!!!!!!!!!!WE HAVE TO STOP THOSE POOR DOGS FROM BEING SLAUGHTERED!!!!!!!!!!
