Protect Conservation Programs That Preserve Pennsylvania's Waterways and the Chesapeake Bay!

The House and Senate are working on the farm bill right now, looking for ways to cut funding. How would this affect our rivers, the Susquehanna and the Chesapeake Bay? Critical conservation programs funded by the farm bill are likely to be first on the chopping block.

Cutting these programs would put all of our hard work to improve water quality in local waterways, the Susquehanna and the Chesapeake Bay at risk.

Sign the petition immediately and help send a message to Congress that conservation programs are not expendable - they're absolutely necessary to protecting our rivers and saving the Chesapeake Bay for our children and grandchildren.
Dear [Member of Congress],

An incredible 39% of nitrogen pollution in the Chesapeake Bay is due to agricultural runoff, contributing to large dead zones. Cutting funding for these programs would put the Bay and its rivers and streams at risk.

These programs allow organizations like the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to work directly with agricultural groups and individual farmers to deal with the pollution that threatens the entire watershed. They promote practices such as fencing off streams, planting streamside forests, and rotating crops so that farmers can help restore water quality and wildlife habitat.

Conservation programs that improve the Bay's water quality are not expendable - they're absolutely necessary to saving the Bay for our children and grandchildren. Please preserve funding for these programs as you continue working on the farm bill.

Sincerely,
