Establish a Comprehensive Paid Family and Medical Leave Program in Maine

Every day, Mainers are forced to choose between taking care of themselves and their loved ones or earning a paycheck needed to meet basic needs. That's why the Maine Legislature has established a Commission on Paid Family and Medical Leave, so nobody needs to risk losing their job or their income to be there for those who matter most.

But to truly be effective, the statewide program must meet some basic criteria:

1. It must take a universal approach, covering all Mainers.
2. It must be 100% state-sponsored.
3. In order to benefit, every working Mainer must contribute to the program.
