Tell the USDA to Keep Our Food Safe: Stop Increased Line Speeds in Meat Processing

For the safety of our food, the USDA must stop trying to increase line speeds in poultry and swine slaughter plants.

If plants run faster, then inspectors could have a harder time identifying potential food safety issues like signs of disease, contamination, and defects to ensure the meat is wholesome, unadulterated, and safe to eat.

Overworked inspectors may miss infections, tumors, contamination, fecal matter, oil gland remnants, bile and diseases, such as septicemia or leukosis.

The USDA is proposing harmful changes that could endanger the pork and chicken families bring home every day as well the workers who are ensuring safe food gets to American families every day.

TAKE ACTION NOW, by submitting a public comment, asking the USDA to put safety first — for workers and for consumers.
