Israel: Stop Imprisoning Palestinians with your Wall

  • al: War on Want

Covered in wire and sniper towers, Israel's Apartheid Wall cuts off Palestinians from schools and hospitals, stealing their land and ultimately their freedom.

Some are forced to go through the Wall's military checkpoints, like 20 year old Nagham, pictured above, who is harassed and questioned on a daily basis as she crosses the checkpoint to get to university.

It's now 10 years since the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared the construction of Israel's Apartheid Wall in the West Bank illegal under international law. Despite this, the British government conducts business as usual with Israel.

War on Want is campaigning for an end to British government ties with Israel until it complies with international law. Public pressure is vital if we are to force the UK government to impose sanctions on Israel.

TAKE ACTION NOW: call on Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, to ensure the British government stops aiding and assisting Israel until it fully complies with international law.
Dear Foreign Secretary,

It is now 10 years since the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled the construction of Israel's Apartheid Wall in the occupied Palestinian West Bank illegal under international law. The ICJ ruled that Israel is legally obliged to dismantle the Wall and to make reparation for all damage caused by its construction; and that third states are under an obligation not to recognise, aid or assist the illegal situation resulting from the construction of the Wall.

Yet construction continues to this day, devastating every aspect of Palestinian life while the British government continues business as usual with Israel. Cutting deep into the Occupied Palestinian West Bank, the Apartheid Wall seizes vital water resources and fertile land, while imprisoning Palestinian communities.

The British government must live up to its obligations under the ICJ ruling and stop aiding and assisting Israel until it fully complies with international law.

Sincerely,
