Urge NOAA Fisheries to protect the Atlantic sturgeon from extinction

The Atlantic sturgeon is the oldest and largest fish species in the Chesapeake Bay, thriving in its waters for millions of years - even outliving the dinosaurs. But after decades of enduring poor water quality, destruction of habitat, and overfishing, these ancient fish are threatened with extinction.

Now, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries is proposing to designate "critical habitat" for Atlantic sturgeon. It's a step in the right direction - but to truly protect these incredible prehistoric fish, NOAA Fisheries must prioritize water quality in their habitat. If they don't, sturgeon populations could remain under threat.

We need your help. Sign our petition now to join Chesapeake Bay Foundation in telling NOAA Fisheries to make water quality a top priority as they designate this critical habitat and manage sturgeon habitat in the future.

Let's work together to ensure that a fish that has thrived here for millions of years will still be here for generations to come. Sign our petition and stand up for the Atlantic sturgeon today.
