Support EPA's Veto of Mountaintop Removal Mine!
The EPA has just proposed a veto of the largest mountaintop removal coal mining project ever proposed in Central Appalachia.
A permit for the project was granted in 2007, but citing the Clean Water Act, the EPA has said that the project would cause "irreversible damage" to the local environment. The project would dig a 2,278-acre coal stripmine and fill six valleys and 43,000 linear feet of streams with the toxic debris.
This veto would be a huge step in the right direction toward stopping this damaging form of mining. The EPA has a comment period open about this issue, and they need to hear from us.

I am writing in support of your proposed veto of the Spruce No. 1 surface mine in Logan County, West Virginia.
The damage that mountaintop removal coal mining does to the local environment and water supply is unquestionable. I am very appreciative that you are using the Clean Water Act properly in this case and stopping this enormous project from devastating the local environment.
You have my full support in this veto.
