Cosmetic Surgery And Mutilation Ban For Animals In Oregon
Although there are many sensible pet gaurdians and veterinary clinics, who do not practice cosmetic procedures on animals, it is still today a popular, yet unnecessary practice. Commonly used by breeders for the prefered look of different "breeds" (many of which are performed without anesthesia), and other pet gaurdians who choose to mutilate their companion's appearance to meet their desires. The goal of this petition, is to ban cosmetic practices such as; ear cropping, tail docking, dew-claw removal, piercings, and any other unnecessary, pain-inflicting practices, unless it will otherwise prove beneficial to the animal's health (and this must be documented by a licensed veterinarian).
Animals do not deserve to have unnecessary pain inflicted on them, due to our preference of their appearance. Let the humans mutilate themselves if they so desire, but let us leave the ones, who would never have the need or desire to do so, alone.
We the undersigned, want a law passed in the state of Oregon, to ban cosmetic surgery practices on animals. These are unnecessary, cruel, and painful practices that are done for no better reason, than that of our amusement. Though there are some sensible veterinary clinics that refuse to do such procedures, it is still widely popular. You don't even have to be a licensed veterinary doctor or obtain a permit in order to mutilate these animals. Please, for the sake and well-being of the victims of this tribulation, in which people are mutilating, make it stop. Let's teach one another respect and more compassionate ways of treating each other.
