Make the Tar Sands accountable to Canadians
The Alberta Tar Sands are the biggest energy development in the world. More money is spent here then on any other energy project in the world. But Albertans see little to no benefit from the Tar Sands. The money is from foreign investment. The majority of the companies operating in the area are foreign owned. The world needs to speak with a united voice, to bring accountability to the Tar Sands.
Honorable members of the Alberta Government we the undersigned are calling on you to step up on matters concerning the Tar Sands. Make them accountable to Canadians, and the world. We are asking that the blank check you have given the Tar Sands corporations be revoked. We also ask that Albertans see a larger percentage of the money coming from the Tar Sands. So they will have money to clean up the Tar Sands, when the corperations leave. Through higher royalties! Also we ask that you make the Oil Sands corporations follow Alberta's environmental laws. Laws that as it stands they are currently exempt from. Thank you for your time and consideration of these matters.
