PCT Funding should be automatic where a clinical recommendation exists

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to remove the need for PCT Funding Approval where a patient has a clinical recommendation for a drug.

I believe that if a patient receives a clinical recommendation to receive a drug, treatment should not be able to be withheld. At present the PCT need to approve treatment even if there is a clinical recommendation. Therefore patients are being refused drugs recommended by their doctors because PCT's do not have to fund them. If the PCT is in deficit, i.e. overspent this could also affect the decision as to whether to treat or not.

Which area you live in will affect the decision as there are many PCT's. I don't think anyone would accept refusal of treatment on the basis of race, age, sex etc - so why are we happy to accept it on the basis of which area you live in?
