Save The Pleasant Retreat Inn from Closure

The Pleasant Retreat Inn, at 2 Watkin Lane, Lostock Hall, is facing full closure following misleading allegations from South Ribble Borough Council; Lancashire Constabulary; and the Lancashire Evening Post; about a congregations of drunken youths who are causing problems around the Hope Terrace area.  According to the above sources, these youths are customers from the Pleasant Retreat Inn.  THIS INFORMATION IS FALSE and as a result the pub is facing complete closure early 2009.  We need to obtain as many signatures as possible to save our local public house, and attempt to get issued ASBO's to the youths who are ruining a local business that has been around for over 100 years.
We the undersigned, send you this completed petition as a result of allegations from yourselves and the Lancashire Constabulary that The Pleasant Retreat Inn, Lostock Hall is the cause of on-going problems around the Hope Terrace area.  The youths who are causing these problems ARE NOT and HAVE NEVER BEEN customers of the pub; and the drinks which have been found in their possession are drinks which we DO NOT SELL whatsoever.

The area of Hope Terrace has nothing to do with the pub itself, and any of our customers who do go to the main front entrance of the pub are their having a cigarette, due to the smoking laws which were put in force in July 2007.  These customers DO NOT take their drinks outside with them during their smoking sessions.

We would appreciate it if you reviewed your decision to close the pub for an indefinite period, and allow the proprietors; Lynn & Steve Birtwistle, to continue running the pub as Landlord and Landlady.
