Save the Planter's Nut Building!
The original Planters Nut & Chocolate Company building is in shambles. This landmark is where Planters started back in 1906. This NEEDS to be restored and recognized as an historical landmark.
What has been allowed to happen to the original 1906 Planters building is deplorable. This should be listed as an historical landmark, not only because of its impact on the city of Wilkes-Barre, but because of its impact on the entire world. The city of Wilkes-Barre was vital to the beginning of the Planters brand, and in turn, Planters was vital to Wilkes-Barre itself. People who have lived here their whole lives don't even know that this is where it all began, let alone the fact that the original building is still here, albeit falling in complete disrepair. Planters has become a world-recognized brand, and the fact that this building is being neglected is a travesty. Please, let's all get together and make a difference!
