IATA is proposing new airline carry-on size limits which will force many of us to discard expensive luggage that was carefully designed to meet the existing general 22 inch by 14 inch by 9 inch, 10kg/22lb. standard. The proposed new 21 1/2" by 13.5" by 7.5" (!) limit will turn tens of millions of dollars worth of functional baggage solutions into vulnerable check in baggage...or garbage. lt also mean that those of us who choose to travel light for environmental as well as business and convenience reasons will have a much harder time doing so.
Those of us who are photographers needing to protect expensive equipment, those of us who pursue sports like scuba diving, needing to ensure that life-critical equipment like regulators and computers are not damaged, those of us in law or business, needing to ensure the confidentiality of extensive documentation will all have a much harder time traveling by air. Particularly when, as experience has demonstrated to us, it is highly advisable to carry-on a change of clothing and/or essential professional wear because check-in luggage is often delayed, damaged or lost.
Tell IATA and your airline of choice that you want to be able to continue to use your existing carry-on, large enough to carry special items and emergency essentials and that you may decide to reduce your travel with them if they impose these draconian new regulations.

We want to be able to continue to use your existing carry-on luggage, boith because we have invested significant time in selecting and money in buying it, and because as travellers with various interests and professional people, we require cabin luggae large enough to carry special items and emergency essentials. We may decide to reduce our travel with you if adopte these draconian new regulations.
