CSAC needs to allow fighters to wear Pra Jiad (armband)
The CSAC will no longer allow any fighters to wear a Pra Jiad (armband) during fights. Fighters will only be allowed to wear them during their entrance and the wai kru, but it must be removed for the fight. It was enforced during March and most recently at the Songkran Festival on April 3rd.
In the past, their use was to give confidence and luck to the athletes. Many fighters to this day wear them during their fights, but unfortunately due to the CSAC they are no longer allowed. They are not just worn for decoration, they are part of tradition, and by accepting their removal we are accepting the dilution of Muay Thai Culture.
Dear CSAC,
We the undersigned are all active members in the Muay Thai community. We would like to thank you for taking the time to consider this petition regarding the removal of the Pra Jiad (armband) during competition.
Muay Thai is not a simple sport where two fighters meet in a ring to simply beat each other up. It goes far beyond that and involves culture and tradition. An important part of this culture and tradition is allowing the fighters to have the option to wear a Pra Jiad if they desire. By removing the option for fighters to be able to wear a Pra Jiad you are removing a part of Muay Thai culture and tradition.
Please reconsider and reinstate the use of the Pra Jiad during the fights.
