Save the Great Lakes from Invasive Carp

Sometimes you just have to own up and pay for the past's mistakes. This is one of those times. Science has proven conclusively that it was a grave error to destroy the natural barrier separating the Great Lakes from the Mississippi River. Now Mississippi's invasive carp are poised to invade the Great Lakes.

The carp will wreak havoc on the lakes' ecosystem, dining freely on native fish that are integral to Midwestern diets and fishing industries. But there is a solution. A recent study proposes a system of barriers that will effectively seal off invasive highways into the Great Lakes.

At an estimated cost of $9.5 billion, it's costly, but necessary to save the lakes' native species from destruction. Tell the US Corps of Engineers to act immediately to protect the Lakes from invasive carp.
We the undersigned are exceptionally worried about the future of the Great Lakes and we ask that you take immediate action to implement the barriers between the lakes and the Mississippi River proposed by the recent study sponsored by the Great Lakes Commission. The time to act is now--before invasive carp destroy commercial and recreational fishing in the Great Lakes and forever ruin its ecosystem. The Great Lakes are already victims of invasive species. An invasion of Asian carp is poised to finish off this great American resource. Don't let that happen.
