Make it illegal to breed and sell wolf/dog hybrids in the UK and US

In the last couple of years the cross-breeding of wolves and domestic dogs has been rampant. The only reason people breed these two different species is for aesthetics purposes. People don't seem to realise that the breeding of these two INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT species is totally cruel and unneccesary.

Domestic dogs and WILD wolves are ENTIRELY different animals. Though domestic dogs have inherited some behaviours from their wild wolf ancestors, such as pack behaviour, in dogs it is a lot more toned down than in wolves. In dog packs, there is a leader and followers. In wolf packs there is a very complicated hierarchy. So, analysing the pack behaviour differences alone is a way to clearly detect that these two species are not that alike. Though related to wolves, domestic dogs can now ONLY live as domestic pets with us humans. They have evolved over 30,000 years alongisde us humans and have adapted perfectly to being around us humans.

Dogs are meant to be by our sides. Wolves are NOT. Wolves are wild animals and should NOT be treated like pets - they are not. Even if you breed a wild or captive wolf with a domestic dog, you will not be "taming" the wolf side of the hybrid. Wolves are NOT meant to be kept as pets and are not built for living alongside humans. No amount of taming will make wolves suitable pets - they are WILD animals and should be left in the wild. We, as humans, need to learn to not mess with Mother Nature. Humans just aren't capable of taking care of wolves or wolf hybrids. We are ONLY capable of looking after dogs and other domestic pets. Please, we must end this cruelty now.

Despite us humans sharing most of our DNA with chimpanzees, we are incredibly different behaviour-wise. It's the same with dogs. Dogs share most of their DNA with wolves, but their behaviour is drastically different. The reason for this? That small difference in DNA makes a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE behaviour-wise. Thus, just like how chimpanzees and humans are not the same animal, it's very clear, obvious and evident that wolves and dogs are NOT the same animal.

When humans adopt/buy wolf hybrids, they really aren't prepared for the challenges they will face. As I said before, wolves are NOT built or meant for living with humans. When they aren't in the wild, with other wolves, they get frustrated. They have so much energy which they would use for migrating and expanding territory each day. A wolf in a human house is not a happy wolf. Even a wolf hybrid (even if only 25% wolf) has a lot of wild instinct. As stated before, wolves and wolf hybrids just DO NOT make good pets.

Wolves are native to North America and as such the breeding of wolf/dog hybrids is incredibly popular over there. There has also been a surge in wolf/dog hybrid sales in the UK, too, despite wolves not being indigenous to the UK anymore. People seem to be going out of their way to get their hands on these wolf/dog hybrids, and it's just NOT fair to either animal in the cross.

The moral of the story is that wolves need to be left in the wild and not tormented by us humans. Trying to tame them isn't healthy for humans or wolves. We also need to STOP breeding wolves and dogs together. It's NOT fair for either animals. Despite being very closely related, dogs are mentally, physically and emotionally very different from wolves. It's important to remember that wolves are wild animals and dogs are domestic pets. Dogs thrive on human companionship and leadership and they really need us and rely on us to survive. Dogs have been bred to be the ultimate companion to us humans, so let's keep it that way and stop trying to change what is already the perfect dog.
