Push For Winter Bike Trail Access At Rock Cut State Park

As fat biking / winter biking grows around the country I cannot help but see Illinois' slow adaptation to this change.  What are the reasons why biking is not allowed on the trails at Rock cut during the winter months?  With snow packed roads, and crazy motorists, cyclists need these trails available to them during this time of year more than ever.

I was told by IDNR Coordinator Amy Madigan in This Correspondence that "generally if we are going to expand any use of our facilities, it involves more study to determine what the real demand for the resource is" 

*This petition is simply to show interest.  Details regarding signage, habitat/trail protection, and trail open/closed dates will all be discussed once the IDNR agrees to consider.
