Bringing Health care to our elders

Come the year 2030 there will be another 2 million people over the age of 65 in the United States(United Census Beuro, 2018) With this increase of aging people there will also be a need for an increased for medical professionals to treat them. Many of our elders end up in hospitals or nursing homes as they age and elders face a different set of health issues associated with the aging of the body and often require special care. In the United States, there are few doctors and other medical professionals who specialize in geriatric care. As a result of this, our seniors are not receiving the care they need in nursing homes and hospitals. The bill S.2888 Geriatrics Workforce improvement Act wants to put in place programs to increase the number of those specialized in geriatric care and improve the training medical professionals receive in geriatric care. The Policy will support the social work value of social justice that states social workers should work toward social change for vulnerable and oppressed people (NASW, 2017)as the older populations are often underappreciated and ignored. By signing this petition, you can show our elders that they are cared about and that their health matters to more people than just themselves.
