Stop media exploiting grief for publicity

On Friday the 5th of January 2018 my 18 year old sister died. I won't go into detail, it's still too painful, however I will say that newspaper reporters have been harassing family and friends all day today asking questions, one going as far as to say "grief sells papers". Despite being told not to, they have all gone ahead and published details of our tragic loss, most of which are incorrect.

I think it's disgusting, and after hearing other occurances of the media doing this, I've decided enough is enough. The media should not be able to publish anything about personal family matters, there should be regulations in place prohibiting them from making contact with grieving families.

There should be a law making media companies need written consent from the family to write a story about any deceased person. It's disgusting what they have done, and it's time they learned they aren't untouchable.

Complaints will be logged with the Press Complaints Commission Code of Practice against any member of the media who persist to contact family and friends of Bethany.

Please sign my petition now to demand grieving families are protected from harassment by the press.
