Petition for Students in Need to Continue to Receive Ohio Grants
The State of Ohio has taken away the Ohio Instructional Grant, which provides need-based tuition assistance to full-time undergraduate students from low and moderate income families. This program is intended to expand access to higher education by bringing the cost of college within reach of more Ohio families. Awards are based on family income with consideration given to the number of dependents in the family, from students who do not attend state schools.
This includes online schools, based in the state, whose educational structure allows students to attend school, when they would not otherwise be able to.
I am asking that the state continue to disburse the OIG, and other grants like it to students who have been receiving it until now, and who are in financial need.
We, the undersigned, protest the State of Ohio refusing to distribute grants, intended for low to moderate icome familes, to private schools, including online schools based in the state. We demand that you continue to disburse these grants to students who have received them in the past, and remain eligible.
If education is a high priority to our country, how can you take away the means to achieve it? We demand that you understand what these grants mean to us, and give them back.
