Doctor Who Christmas Special - Overseas Air Date

We the undersigned, dedicated fans of your television program Doctor Who, ask you to reconsider your policy regarding the airing of the annual Christmas Special in foreign countries.
First, we want to commend you on the creation and preservation of a brilliant television program that has lasted it's fans over thirty years. Doctor Who utilizes a unique style that combines danger, humor, and goofiness in an extremely enjoyable way that never fails to entertain. Thank you, BBC, for keeping this remarkable show on the air for us to enjoy for so many years.
Nonetheless, we believe it is time to take it one step further; since it's origin, the Doctor Who fan base has spread around the globe to countries like the United States and Australia. Unfortunately, these fans have encountered a frustrating dilemma: episodes aren%u2019t aired outside the United Kingdom until months later. Of course, this is the case with almost all television series aired internationally; it is not, in any way, unreasonable for you to do so as well. We are not asking for you to air all episodes simultaneously regardless of nation - though that would be nice. What we are proposing is a smaller, more practical step towards worldwide synchronization in airing schedules: allow the Christmas specials to air worldwide - if not on Christmas day, then within the next week - perhaps on New Years Day? This way, those of us across the borders don't have to watch a Christmas episode in the middle of July! This seems, to us, to be a reasonable compromise. The United Kingdom fans will still have the privilege of viewing the episodes first - but without robbing international fans of the right to enjoy the episode during the holiday season.
Why only the Christmas special? Why not the entire series? Well, because we understand that there are reasons other than stinginess for keeping a delay on these episodes. It is the airing of the Christmas special in the middle of spring and sometimes even summer that gives us a problem; the whole charm of the Christmas special is being able to sit down around the TV with your family for the annual tradition that is watching the Doctor solve a holiday mystery or alien plot while celebrating the holidays ourselves. This is what makes the Christmas special, well%u2026 special.%uFFFD
You probably have one specific question at this point: Do we really expect you to spend the time and money to make this change solely because a few people in various countries are impatient? Not at all. You%u2019re a company, you need to make money; you need profit. We understand that. And this is exactly why you should make this decision. With today%u2019s technology, fans everywhere can connect at any given time. There are forums, fan sites, etc. where information is leaked, where fans express their feelings and thoughts regarding the episode. Gossip spreads, rumors spread%u2026 this makes it very hard for fans to resist the temptation to break the rules. We are human, and we do what humans do - cheat. The episodes are always available at one web site or another, if one takes the time to really look. When people resort to this method of obtaining the episodes, the ratings go down, creating the illusion that the show is losing interest from the public. This is, of course, detrimental to the network and everyone involved in producing the show.
