A freeway was built in Santa Monica and it crosses through Mountain Lion territory. This freeway is cutting the land in two and the mountain lions on the left side are trapped. They can not cross to the other side to mate and find food and they can't go around because there is an ocean on the other side. The mountain lions are interbreeding and this causes birth defects and genetic weakness. The mountain lions are also being hit by cars because they are trying to cross the freeway in order to mate with other mountain lions and to find food.
