Demand justice for the planet, once and for all!

As you probably have heard, according to National Park Services, 500,000,000 straws are used each day in the United States alone. This is a very concerning subject because humans only have one reliable planet to live. People may believe that mist straws and other plastics go into the oceans and lakes; which is completely false. Only about 10% of the worlds plastic actually ends up in the ocean. This means that the other 90% ends up in landfills; polluting out air and water. When plastic decomposes, carnon dioxide is released into the air, it is also released into the soil. The soil surrounds the aquifer which ultimately leads to water pollution. What I would like to do is replace all plastic straws in Grayslake Central High school with paper ones for the week of Earth day. Doing this, we will help the planet’s oceans, atmosphere and wildlife.
