I believe that any man, or woman, should have the right to openly carry a weapon with the intent to use said weapon for self-defense. Openly displaying a weapon could act as a strong deterent to any crime ranging from a simple mugging to attempted rape. It would make them less of a target, preventing a crime from occuring in the first place. I see no logical reason why all law abiding American citizens should not have the right to carry a weapon openly, provided they have gad proper training. A person should have the right to choose to depend on themselves for their on safety, instead of having law enforcement as their only means of protection. The police take minutes to respond to a report of a crime. By then you could have been robbed, raped, killed, what have you. So many crimes could be stopped if the victim had a weapon on their person. The criminals have guns and other lethal objects, why shouldn't we? Why should WE be at a disadvantage to THEM, especially if they don't obey the law in the first place? What reason is there why we should not?
