Dangerous Dogs Act 1991/United kingdom/ to be lifted and reset in motion making it more clearer, non

This petition in which we want 800,000 signatures is aimed at the Dangerous Dog Act 1991, we want your support to have this disgraceful, discriminating, and barbaric law lifted and then set back in motion in order to stop all dogs dangerous or not to have a fairer chance in life.
I and my own team have seen to many dogs euthanised due to this law and what for ? for there looks! for there size! because they have showed there teeth at a stranger in the street! or a person has been bitten! does that make it then correct for that dog to be held and then go through hell just for a judge to to call for it to be euthanised ? no it does not.
We have also seen puppies that come under the DDA that have been euthanised to !!! surely this can not be as puppies hardly have teeth to bite, they yelp not growl, they are not even an adult sized dog so where does the measurements come in to force here? simple they do not, and why? as the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 "is not clear, has not been written up correctly by the government and D.E.F.R.A officials" and why is this? as it was a rushed through law due to the government of the UK becoming scared that they would loose money from the victims of "dog attacks" so they have simply made a law up discriminating "certain" dogs and slapped it in motion not understanding the consequences of what damage it is doing and has done.
What is a dangerous dog? a dog under the DDA 1991 that bites, growls, looks like a danger, or simply does not fit the bill? or is a dangerous dog any dog that does the above? we as animal lovers and rescuers do not know nor does the government.
A dangerous dog could be any dog, and it is most likely to be dangerous as of the owner that has abused it, or taught it to be dangerous! why are these people not punished ? why ? as the law has not been written correctly.
The loop holes in the DDA 1991 are simple they state:
1) the dog has to be kept on a lead2) the dog has to be muzzled3) the dog has to be tattooed4) the dog has to be licensed 4) the dog has to be spaded 5) the dog has to be kept in a secure area when left alone6) the dog has to be registered every year
another loop hole is, if a judge did see fit that the dog can in fact be saved from euthanasia if it is all of the above and then cared for by someone else but "in a non populated area" and that is also the laws most UK councils will set to.
So we as animal rescuers want the DDA to be lifted and set in to motion with these laws placed in to it and the law to state what is a dangerous dog as any dog can be dangerous !!

  • any dog that has been dangerous or shown aggression is not euthanised but seen to by a specialist, and treated.
  • any dog that has killed and is out of control and can not in no way be saved by a specialist, dog breeder, or by medicine is then placed in the judges hands "but" after specialist's, and other reports have only been exhausted.
  • all owners of dogs that are "seen" as aggressive must be screened to ensure they are in fact not an animal abuser, are not in no way going to make the dog aggressive, and owners are to place a written report of there knowledge of "as seen" dangerous dogs
  • every single breed of dog is to be looked at and then a list complied of what dog "may" and "could" be dangerous.
  • all dog owners that have "as seen dangerous" dogs that have been proved in a court of law they have abused, or taught that dog aggression are to have the dog taken from them, and they the owner are banned from keeping dogs/and/or punished by a court of law
  • no dog is to be discriminated that is "seen" as dangerous
  • the courts and the government but show what "could" be a dangerous dog they must not in no way just compile a report of set breeds then punish them.
  • all council dog wardens must be fully educated in what is "seen" as a dangerous dog and in no way make there own assumptions
  • all dogs when the government and highly trained specialists have compiled a list of "as seen" not banned dogs must then set in motion what them owners must do as responsible dog keepers to keep there dogs safe, with love, and care.
  • when the government has compiled a list of "as seen" dangerous dogs "not banned" they must then enforce the owners to take there dog to a specialist every 6 months or year for an in depth check up on its mental state to ensure that the dog is safe and not becoming a danger, if there are signs of danger then the correct course of action taken and in no way euthanised, nor the dog taken from its owner
The UK government has a lot to answer for along with the judges who are destroying these dogs, we have been watching the Lennox case closely and then have been going through reports closely of dogs that have been in the same situation but have not been treated like this in no way. I and the team have also seen how negligent the councils are being to and seeing how discrimination is rife.
Take a human, if it attacks, or shows emotion what do we do?? yes of course we punish if that human attacks!! but do we kill? NO we also check to see if that human needs love, we have come along way racism is becoming rarer along with discrimination so why is that not being shown to our animals.
The laws we want in the DDA above are just a few, if we placed all here the list would go on and on and would take some reading, we need your support to have this lifted and set back in to motion, with the law more clarified and made clearer for all, no dogs to be discriminated, this is going to be a fight we would ask for your help to and what you would like ... please place a comment in your signature outlining what you would like
thank you
