We need separate wings for LGBT individuals in prisons.
I started this petition because my uncle was a gay inmate. And he was raped because of this. According to bjs.org The LGBT community only accounts for 7.9% of all the prisoners. In prisoner-on-prisoner rape alone they account for 34.72% of all reported incidents. When it comes to guard-on-prisoner rape they account for 18.09% of all reported incidents. This is for prisons and for jails the LGBT community accounts for only 7.11% of the population yet account for 35.16% of all reported prisoner on prisoner rape, and 16.22% of all reported guard on prisoner rapes.
We need to offer seperate wings for these individuals to protect them from harm.
Once I have reached my goal I will propose my letter to all 50 Senators, the presidant, and all the prison officals nation wide to help get our word out!
