200 Pregnant Whales Slaughtered! Australians Demand Action From Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull

Japan's illegal whaling fleet has just returned to port with 333 dead minke whales, 103 males and 230 females - 90% of which were PREGNANT.

All we get from Prime Minister Turnbull is "I have expressed to the PM, as I have before, our very deep disappointment with Japan's resumption of whaling." Meanwhile he keeps up economic & defence ties. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Australians have had enough. This is such a morally corrupt and despicable act, we are saddened and outraged and we want action. The government has not only broken Environment Minister Greg Hunt's personal election promise to send a patrol vessel to the Southern Ocean to monitor whaling activity, but it has completely ignored the will of the people and is doing nothing.

Senator Peter Whish-Wilson accused the federal government of turning its back on Japan's "sickening" illegal activity. "Not in 40 years has an Australian government done so little to prevent whaling on our watch and in our waters," he said. And he's exactly right. We call for sanctions on the JAEPA agreement with Japan as long as illegal whaling continues. It's time to show a backbone and show that Australia will not tolerate illegal fishing in the Southern Oceans.

Darren Kindleysides, director of the Australian Marine Conservation Society, said Australia's leading international experts had examined Japan's new so-called scientific research program this year and found it was also a guise for killing whales, and a breach of international law.

Please sign this petition to demand that Prime Minister Turnbull level economic sanctions against Japan until they stop defying the UN's order to stop their whaling program.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull,

We the are petitioning action on behalf of the people of Australia who are outraged not only by the continueing illegal whaling by Japan in the Southern Ocean, but also by the blatant disregard for international law and the complacency by the Australian government.

Not only have you broken a personal, pre-electoral promise by Environment Minister Greg Hunt to send a patrol vessel to the Southern Ocean to monitor whaling activity, but you continue to do nothing about this issue. Just voicing your disappointment in Japan for these illegal activities is not enough.

We demand that you level sanctions against Japan until it permanently stops its whaling program. Your complacency in this issue is alarming and sends the wrong message to any who wish to plunder not only the Southern Ocean but the waters of Australia.
