Stop Yahoo! Japan allowing ivory trading on its online auction.

Yahoo! Japan has repeatedly refused to ban the sale of ivory on its online auction, while its U.S. counterpart has done little to influence a change. Yahoo! is the second largest stakeholder in Yahoo Japan, owning 35.6 percent of the company. In Japan, those with more than one-third of a stake in a company are allowed to veto board decisions. Yahoo! CEO, Marissa Mayer has yet to speak out publicly on this issue, claiming there is nothing she can do. In the meantime, ivory sales continue to soar.
African elephants are the main source of ivory, and poaching has increased exponentially in recent years. Activists believe online sales drive up demand, but Yahoo! Japan, which operates the largest online auction in the country, maintains that all the ivory on their site was exported before the ban was placed in 1989 and that they aren’t breaking any laws.
It is estimated that only 300 of the 2,000 pieces of ivory in Japan are registered, and sales have increased sevenfold in 10 years, bringing in about seven million dollars in sales. Additionally, many fear that shipments of ivory are going to China. At the same time, elephant populations have decreased by 30 percent in the last seven years.
