Save Dogs from Slaughter in Thailand!
Up to 200,000 live stray dogs and pets are smuggled from northeast Thailand to Vietnam where they are used as meat for restaurants. As shown in this disturbing video, the dogs are packed tightly and stacked on top of each other in cages. Some dogs die on the trip, while many others become dehydrated and stressed out.
Once the dogs arrive in Vietnam, they are placed in confining "stress cages" that restrict their movement. Causing additional stress to the dogs is intentional due to a belief that they will release hormones that improve the taste of their meat. Eventually, the dogs are bludgeoned and sometimes skinned alive in front of other dogs.
Criminals involved in the dog meat trade use horrific methods to capture and slaughter animals who are, in many cases, stolen beloved family pets. The Soi Dog Foundation and the Thai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are working to get an Animal Welfare Bill through to Thai Parliament.
