I am writing to you, with confidence to explain my worries over the education system for the UK at this current moment in time.
The importance of the environment is ignored in the school syllabus partically for younger primary school children. If we can get the young to learn and appreciate the environment, then they will grow and continue to teach their children to love the environment with compassion. This is so important for the earth, as this teaches children to love and feel connection with others, and helps reduce the risk of being "disconnected" from the earth. This is something that is partically worrying in this moment of time, with the rise of technology. Letting children out more and helping them interact with the forest, composting and growing vegetables helps children understand the core of where things are from, it helps their intellectual capacity and improves emotional and social skills to a significant extent.
If children were to do this and this was a part of weekly learning, then the risk of environmental collapse would reduce. If children love the earth at a young age, then they will continue to do so. This would promote a sustainable economic friendly environment for the future generations to come. They will grow to care about renewable resources and waste less in consumption. This is an urgent request.
