Increase the Setbacks for Wind Turbines in Delta County, Michigan

Support fair and balanced zoning for wind farms in Delta County. Over 150 residents of Garden Township suffer from excessive noise and/or concerns for health, safety and loss of property enjoyment and values due to the wind farm. Help us:

• Increase setbacks to 5 times the height of the full wind turbine

• Measure setbacks from property lines, not dwellings

• Lower noise limits to 35dB(a), 50 dB(c)

• 3-mile setback from Great Lakes shoreline as recommended by US Fish & Wildlife Service

• Provide a complaint resolution process

• Hold Heritage Energy accountable for decommissioning

We represent over 150 residents that believe we can all live well together, with fair and balanced zoning not only for Garden Township but throughout Delta County as wind energy expands to other areas.

Concerned citizens in Garden Township and Delta County are walking through the process of amending zoning that does not currently protect the health, safety and welfare of residents of Delta County.

The process includes educating residents of Delta County about the reality of living with wind turbines. We shared our experience with excessive noise from the wind farm along with concerns over safety, possible health affects and loss of property values and enjoyment with township officials and residents throughout the county.

We worked with a zoning attorney and wind expert to prepare recommendations to amend the current zoning to better protect the health, safety and welfare of residents.

We need your show of support to get these measures approved by the Planning Commission. Please sign this petition if you are in agreement.
