Support Toronto's Independent Bookstores!

In the past decade, numerous independent bookstores in Toronto have been forced to shut down because they either couldn't pay the rising Toronto rent, or because they couldn't compete with the heavily discounted prices of the big chains. Independent bookstores are vital to building up a literary community within Toronto. They offer so much support to their communities as well, whether it be by supporting local authors or in offering different literacy programs for youth. Please help by signing this petition! In doing so, you would be asking the provincial government to put a limit of the discounts that multinational chains can offer on new release books. This would allow indie bookstores to stay competitive, not shut down because of lack of money, and focus more of their time on building up Toronto's literary community.
