After receiving about 50 phone calls, election officials decided to no longer allow the Islamic Center of Boca Raton (ICBR) to serve as a polling station this fall.
The ICBR is not just a religious organization; it is a community service that feeds the homeless and serves as a hurricane shelter, among other things.
Please sign to tell Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher to not give in to anti-Muslim bigots and instead reinstate the ICBR as a polling location!
Dear Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher,
We the undesigned would like to ask you to reconsider your decision to no longer designate the Islamic Center of Boca Raton as a voting location this fall. Though you supported the ICBR serving this role originally, you have since been pursuaded by voters with questionable objections to move polling sites.
By doing so, it sends the message to Muslims in Florida and the United States that there is something objectionable about them and their communities; would you also move voting sites if people objected to Christian churches that serve this role?
Please do the right thing and reinstate the ICBR as a voting site.
