China's dog-leather trade practice is nothing short of barbaric. Dogs are beaten and killed for their fur and skin, which in turn is used for leather items as well as fur- and animal hair-embellished goods. These poor creatures are piled high into cages and then slaughtered by clubbing and other methods. Some die immediately, other are not so lucky and end up being skinned while still alive.
The products made from their skin are mislabeled so as to trick the consumer into thinking they are made of cowhide or some other hide. You or your husband may even have a pair of yard work gloves made and marketed in this fashion.
China has exported goods containing toxic levels of lead and other chemicals, and quite obviously has no regard for the safety of the consumers purchasing their exported goods.
The time has come to enforce sanctions on China with respect to its inappropriate practices and disregard for life - the lives of the dogs and cats tortured and killed for their fur and skins, as well as the lives of the humans who are affected by China's lack of regulation and oversight.
Please sign this petition...and please, let's send China a strong message by boycotting the leather and fur goods they export.
