Ashlynn Avery, a high school student who suffers from diabetes, asthma, and sleep apnea, was beaten and arrested for falling asleep in class.

Avery was in in-school suspension at a high school in Hoover, Alabama for not going to class. She fell asleep while she was reading, and was hit in the head, chest, and told to leave the room as a police officer hit her backpack and slammed her face into a file cabinet.

In the police car, handcuffed, she threw up, and had to be taken to the hospital and have a cast put on for her injuries. She needed further treatment for her shoulder, arm, and wrist, as well as counseling.

It is absolutely unacceptable that someone was treated like this for falling asleep in class. Please tell the Hoover, Alabama government to do a full investigation and get justice for this young victim!

Dear Hoover, Alabama City Government,

A student at a high school in this town, Ashlynn Avery, was beaten and arrested for falling asleep in class. Suffering from diabetes, asthma, and sleep apnea, she fell asleep while reading in ISS.

She was in in-school suspension for not going to class, and was hit in the head, chest, and told to leave the room as a police officer slammed her face into a file cabinet and hit her backpack.

She had to be taken to the hospital and receive treatment for her shoulder, arm, and wrist, as well as counseling for mental trauma.

It is acceptably unacceptable for a student to be treated this way for not going to class. Please do a full investigation and get justice for Avery. Thank you for your time.
