There's so many "Cute Baby Monkey Sites" on FB and Youtube that we think should violate their policies on animal abuse.Many of these infant and young monkey babies are taken from their mothers in the wild and then are dressed up, bathed and shown off to unsuspecting people who don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Many have their food or formulas withheld so they will hopefully be more compliant when it's time to do a video shoot of them being fed.
They're never shown doing monkey things like running and playing or climbing nor are the tiny babies held or cuddled like they clearly need to be. They need nurturing as tiny babies but these people don't care when hundreds of their fans are telling them they don't like what they are seeing in the videos!! They're stuck on a blanket or a bathtub starved so they will comply!
It's just wrong. They look like they are having food withheld just to be fed in front of the camera. What people don't see is that when these monkeys become to hard to handle they are often sedated to make them appear docile. When that doesn't work many are killed and many are eaten then these people get another monkey and try to pass it off as one of the monkeys people have liked watching. What they don't expect is their viewers are too sharp and they question them. Where is " so and so" ...this one isn't "so and so!! "This baby had bigger ears or had a tooth missing or whatever.
These videos make money off these creative, intelligent creatures not caring one bit about the wellbeing of these animals!!! Please sign to stop them!!
I sent a complaint to FACEBOOK last night about a monkey video where the woman was teasing amd slapping and pinching a young teen monkey. He or she was doing the same to the woman!! Monkey see? Monkey do??The comments were all calling for this woman to stop her abuse immediately.
Within 10 minutes, I kid you not, Facebook replied and said the video DID NOT fall under their idea of abuse!!!
None of the baby monkeys should be videotaped for money. While there are videos of people who own primates that know what they are doing and care deeply for their pets and are likely licensed to have them. But I can't believe that these cases fall into these categories.
